Nystagmus is a condition that causes your eyes to move uncontrollably. It can cause sight problems but is not painful in most cases.

There is no cure for nystagmus but it can be treated and managed. There is often an underlying cause for the condition, like an inherited disease or a medical condition.

Nystagmus occurs when the parts of your brain that control eye movement and understand visual information don't develop properly. These parts of your brain aren't able to control your eye movements correctly, resulting in uncontrolled movement.
