A macular hole can cause blurry vision and make straight lines look wavy. Over time it can cause permanent vision loss.

The condition usually affects one eye. The condition can be treated with injections or surgery.

A macular hole is a small gap in the part of your eye responsible for seeing colour, detail and things in front of you: the macula. It is not known for sure what causes the condition. Age and sex are believed to play a part.
