Laser Eye SurgeryJuly 2023
Transport Police Officer Matthew was a successful applicant for free laser eye surgery as part of our Thanks a Million campaign.
Matthew spoke to us about his role and how his poor vision impacted him daily, especially in his role as he could be called out at any time to work in dusty, dirty environments and at night. He says that if he doesn’t have his glasses on, he’s not able to see as well as she could be, “opening me up too many different vulnerabilities”.
After seeing the Thanks a Million adverts on social media, Matthew was keen to get his application in as he has always thought about getting laser eye surgery done. Having LASIK iDesign in our Cambridge clinic, Matthew commented on the kindness of all the staff, from head office to the clinic staff and his surgeon Dr Mughal.
It is the second time that Optical Express has chosen to thank NHS and Emergency Service workers in this way. In 2017, they launched their first ‘Thanks a Million’ campaign which saw them give away £1 million worth of free laser eye surgery. Over the course of the two campaigns more than £2 million worth of surgery will improve the lives of NHS and Emergency Service workers.
Since Optical Express was founded 33 years ago, the team are proud to have supported hundreds of humanitarian and philanthropic projects, donating over £33 million and counting to worthwhile causes in the UK and abroad.
