Laser Eye SurgeryJuly 2023
Eager to get into a new unit on the Police force Maisy needed to ensure she had good vision to be able to proceed with her career plans.
Maisy commented that “you need good eyesight to be able to do that” when talking about moving into the traffic core or firearms unit. She has been wearing glasses since she was four years and she didn’t want to stop herself from doing something just because of her eyesight.
After seeing the ‘Thanks a Million’ campaign across social, Maisy jumped at the chance to apply for free laser eye surgery with Optical Express and was ecstatic to find out that she had been successful.
Speaking about her experience, Maisy said that everyone has been amazing and she was “well looked after”. Her surgeon Dr Muhammad Kazmi spoke to Maisy about the surgery and the risks, he answered all of her questions and “put her at ease”.
“Waking up that first time and being able to see was a strange feeling” Maisy said when commenting on the morning after her surgery. She also mentioned that this has been the first time she’s been able to see this far away as she has been a glasses wearer since the age of 4.
Maisy is now keen to apply to new roles within the police force as her vision is no longer stopping her from pushing herself forward, stating that she now has the “confidence to go where I want to go with my career”.
