Eldon Square helps Gordon set his sights on US charity cycle

Gordon Wilson is a keen motorcyclist with a dream; to raise as much money as possible for charity by riding his motorbike across the 48 lower US states in just 48 days.

The charity in question is the Great North Air Ambulance. With three aircrafts, the team provides vital and often lifesaving air ambulance services to North of England and the Scottish Borders.

Staff at our Eldon Square clinic in Newcastle were delighted to welcome Gordon last week to pick up the contact lenses we have donated free of charge to aid his journey. After all, being able to see clearly is pretty important when you are expecting to clock up around 300 miles a day!

Even for an expert motorcyclist with over 35,000 miles on the clock, it's no mean feat. The 13,000 mile journey requires strict planning, with Gordon due to start the engine on the East coast of US on the 1st August.

We wish Gordon all the best for his epic journey; stay tuned to the Optical Express blog for an update once he returns from his adventure.
