LASIK eye surgery treatment is the most common eye laser treatment and it has been performed for over 20 years. Optical Express performs iLASIK, a revolutionary all-laser surgery that allows your eye surgeon to further customise your treatment.

Advanced all-laser treatment approved by NASA

Optical Express offers the same iLASIK treatment that NASA has approved for use on their astronauts. iLASIK corrects your vision using two incredibly precise lasers. The first creates an ultra-thin protective flap and the second reshapes the cornea. Patients can expect to have both eyes treated on the same day.

Step one: Map
Your eye ‘map’ is as unique as your finger print. The first step is to create a 3-D image of each eye that shows your eye surgeon the areas that the laser needs to correct.

For more precise results you can choose iDesign.

Hi-tech iDesign technology can map your eye twenty-five times more accurately than a standard prescription used for glasses or contact lens. We are so confident in iDesign technology that, if you are suitable and choose to have iDesign iLASIK, we guarantee 20/20 vision or better… or we'll give you your money back.*

Step two: Prepare

Before starting the treatment, anaesthetic drops are applied to numb the eye.

Once this has been done, the first laser is used to create an ultra-thin flap that is gently lifted by your surgeon to reveal the cornea. This flap acts as a protective layer after treatment, allowing your eye to heal naturally.

Step three: Correct

Using your eye ‘map’ as a guide, a second laser is then applied to the cornea for a matter of seconds. It sends tiny computer controlled pulses of cool laser beams to gently reshape the inner layer of the cornea to correct your vision.

Step four: Completion

Your surgeon will gently fold back the protective flap securely to its original position where it heals naturally over the following few days. The healing process begins immediately and most patients will see immediate results.
