Kiran studied Optometry at City University in London and graduated in
2004, to then complete her pre-registration with Optical Express in 2005.
Beginning her career as a pre-registration Optometrist, Kiran quickly
gained a wide variety of experience and in 2006 she began her extended role into the refractive surgery pathway. This allowed her to specialise in performing pre and post-operative assessments for patients undergoing laser, intraocular lens and cataract surgery. Kiran is passionate about her role at Optical Express because specialising in refractive surgery, is an area of Optometry that is always fast moving and forward thinking.
Kiran also held the position of pre-registration supervisor, which gave her the opportunity to train many newly qualified Optometrists into the field of Optometry. She also held the post of regional trainer for Optometrists new to refractive surgery posts and then went on to become Optometry Development Manager for a further 5 years. Kiran also hosted many CET events for internal and external Optometrists; the level of experience and wealth of knowledge is evident is all aspects of her work.
In 2022, Kiran upskilled her role even further by completing the
Independent Prescribing qualification, which allows her to manage many eye conditions at community level, without the need to refer patients to an Ophthalmologist at hospital.
