Gary a Hospital Pharmacist from Glasgow was one of our lucky applicants in our 2023 Thanks a Million campaign.

Working as a nurse in the hospital Gary found himself wearing contact lenses for long periods of times, sometimes “12-18 hours a day”. Wearing contact lenses for this length of time is uncomfortable and often lead to infections.

During COVID Gary felt wearing glasses was just not an option as they would fog up and they would indent his nose whilst wearing a mask. He had thought about getting laser eye surgery the past few years after speaking with friends who had it done.

One day whilst scrolling through LinkedIn Gary had seen the Thanks a Million adverts and thought he “may as well” apply for it. When he received the news of being successful, he was “over the moon and really excited” to visit the clinic for his consultation to see if he would be eligible for vision correction surgery.

Gary had LASIK iDesign surgery in our state of the art clinic in Glasgow and was “a bit nervous in the morning”. 24 hours after his surgery Gary’s vision is “brilliant”, the morning after he woke up and just “looked out the window” and he could see number plates of cars like “farther away” than what he could have seen before.

He is looking forward to waking up and not having to worry about contact lenses or glasses and is able to watch TV in full 4K. Gary enjoys being outdoors so by having laser eye surgery at Optical Express he can now take in the sights hassle-free, no more extended contact lens wear or uncomfortable glasses.
