Paul Bristow MP has officially opened the newly expanded Optical Express eye clinic in Peterborough which now offers life-changing vision correction surgery as well as consultations for patients. The clinic has recently been approved by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), and will improve access to eye care in Peterborough.
Optical Express have invested over £3 million in the new facility – bringing the latest eye care technology to the city. As the UK’s leading private provider of laser eye surgery, lens replacement and cataract treatment, Optical Express’s new clinic will offer high quality eye care to local residents and those in the surrounding area.
The Peterborough clinic will offer free vision correction surgery consultations and it is anticipated that the new clinic will treat patients on NHS waiting lists as well as private patients. The clinic has the capacity to significantly reduce NHS eye care waiting times in Peterborough, particularly for those in need of cataract surgery. Cataracts worsen over time and can cause blindness without proper care, meaning timely treatment is vital.
The new clinic will also create new highly skilled, specialist jobs in the area as the company recruits new members to join its expert clinical team.
Paul Bristow, MP for Peterborough, said:
“It is a really impressive facility but what I am most impressed about is the difference Optical Express is going to make too many of my constituents. Far too many people here in Peterborough are waiting too long for treatments that can be carried out here. I think it’s fantastic that this is open and it will reduce those waiting times hugely, it will make the world of difference for my constituents”
Optical Express CEO and Founder, David Moulsdale, said:
“We are delighted to open our new clinic in Peterborough. By opening our latest clinic here, we’re working towards our goal to improve the quality, and the reach, of refractive care across the UK. We are proud to be working in partnership with the NHS, to reduce the backlog of those waiting to receive ophthalmic care. I am very happy to see the hard work and enthusiasm of our colleagues at Optical Express, which have made this clinic’s opening such a success. I’m looking forward to seeing how our team’s expertise can really make an impact throughout the community.”
As at all Optical Express clinics, staff at Peterborough’s new state of the art facility will encourage patients to consider the importance of sustainability in their eye care decisions, providing alternative, more sustainable vision correction solutions as well as recycling stations for single-use plastic contact lenses, glasses and their packaging.
