About Erik De Koning
As one of the world’s leading ophthalmic surgeons, Mr De Koning has gained vast clinical experience throughout his career. Considered by his peers to be a leader in this field, he has carried out more than 50,000 procedures and is a specialist in LASIK and LASEK laser vision correction surgery.
After graduating from the University of Utrecht in 1983 and completing his postgraduate qualifications, Mr De Koning’s ophthalmology career began in earnest. He progressed to a number of different senior positions in private eye surgery clinics and gained the invaluable experience which led him to specialise in laser vision correction.
Mr De Koning has made presentations about laser eye surgery in many different countries and regularly attends conferences and seminars which help to keep him at the forefront of developments in ophthalmology. He attends the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery conference every year, and has published articles in 6 international ophthalmology magazines enabling him to keep abreast of the latest developments in refractive surgery.
