It looks like 2015 is shaping up to be an exciting year for music lovers, with a wave of new artists emerging from the unknown, long awaited albums and new tours set to whet our musical appetite all year long. We have put together the highlights of the year ahead.
Rixton -Let the Road
After their super catchy summer tune ‘Me and My Broken Heart’ the Manchester four-piece have unveiled the full tracklisting and artwork for their upcoming debut album ‘Let The Road’. Due in early March, the album is tipped to be a hit and will include their first single, newest release ‘Wait on Me’ as well as a track written by Ed Sheeran.
Fifth Harmony - Reflection
American girl group, Fifth Harmony, was formed by Simon Cowell from 5 soloists on the second series of the X Factor USA. He later signed them to his SyCo label when they finished 3rd in the competition. The band has been labelled the No.1 most influential X Factor USA entry of all time and their 2013 EP ‘Better Together’ reached No.6 on the US Billboard chart in its first week. Their debut album ‘Reflection’ is released in January and we have a feeling we will be seeing more of these girls on our side of the pond.
FKA Twigs’ hypnotic R&B has been gaining for nearly two years, and when her debut album, LP1, was released last August, the full-length instantly became one of the best-reviewed discs of the year, so much so she was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2014 but was pipped to the post by ‘Young Fathers’. Her sound has been described as “catchy pop” with “whispery vocals” – a fascinating indie artist with a fiercely individual sound.
2014 was a busy year for this Glasgow band. They came roaring into the UK music scene and our screens when they played the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games to 7.5 million people on BBC1 (not forgetting the 40,000 inside Hampden Park). Last year also saw them support Blink-182, appear as headline acts in both the Reading and Leeds Festival and they managed to find time to confirm their first headline tour, much to the delight of their already growing fan base. The Scottish three-piece made up of Stewart Brock, Callum Wiseman and Lewis Gardner have yet to announce their debut album but it is rumoured to be due in 2015. Currently signed to Island Records, their songs are a mix of indie/rock with a synth-pop edge. ‘Messiah’ taken from their EP, The Seeds You Sow has all the tools to become an arena anthem.

Ariana Grande - Honeymoon Tour
2014 was quite a year for pint sized pop princess Ariana Grande with two number one hits under her belt. Now she’s set to bring her incredible voice, that ponytail and those thigh-high boots to arenas across the UK with her very first British tour which stops off in London, Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham next June. Ariana’s Honeymoon Tour comes after her smash hit single Problem, featuring Iggy Azalea, topped the charts in summer 2014. She also scored a number one with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj with the track Bang Bang later in the year.
