Laser Eye Surgery was something that my friends and family had always encouraged me to go for. A few of them had the surgery and they said that it had changed their life for the better! However, l am probably the most claustrophobic girl EVER! I tried on a few occasions to get contact lenses and couldn't bear the thought of putting anything in my eye. I had been wearing glasses since l was 12 years old and my eye sight slowly got worse and the inconvenience of having to remember glasses everywhere l went ended up costing me a fortune. I had 4 pairs on the go!

When l started working at Clyde1 l had to wear headphones everyday. Wearing glasses and headphones at the same time ended up really hurting the bridge of my nose. Also, when l was reading on air my glasses were just not doing enough and I was struggling with my eyesight. I also do a lot of keep fit and when l went running l could hardly see what was in front of me. My glasses even annoyed me when I was lying on the couch relaxing; they were always in the way. Going on holiday and reading on the beach in the sun would leave me with white marks round my eyes. There were so many reasons why l was keen to get laser eye surgery, but was l brave enough?

Eventually, my friend persuaded me to go for a free consultation at Optical Express. I arrived very nervous and unsure. Helen and Jill at the Glasgow clinic could not have been nicer. They reassured me and talked me through the procedure and when l left l decided that l would go for the surgery due to their supportive words. The treatment day arrived a week later and l went to the Silverburn clinic and met my fabulous surgeon David Teenan. David and all the staff there helped calm my nerves and l managed to hold back any panic attacks. I could not believe how quick the surgery was. Without great support and encouragement from all the staff at Optical Express l doubt l would have gone for it. Now l can see perfectly without my glasses and l would recommend laser eye surgery to everyone. It has made such a difference to my daily life and l'm so happy l faced my fears. Well worth it.
