Mr. Coleman has been performing personalised Wavefront CustomVue LASIK since May 2002 as part of a six centre FDA clinical trial. He performed the first FDA approved laser vision correction in Albuquerque, New Mexico in June 1996 and is one of the leading laser eye Surgeons performing over 18,000 vision correction procedures.

He is a member of the Optical Express International Medical Advisory Board (IMAB) and a leader in the field of laser vision correction. On June 14, 1996 he performed the very first FDA approved laser procedure to correct nearsightedness in New Mexico. That patient, Beth Wagoner of Albuquerque, has 20/20 vision in each eye today. Mr. Coleman performs personalised Wavefront-guided CustomVue LASIK using a VISX STAR S4 excimer laser system with 3-dimensional eye tracking.

Along with such prestigious institutions as Johns Hopkins, the University of Miami and Baylor University, Mr. Coleman has been part of an ongoing FDA study evaluating Wavefront technology since May of 2002 for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. He was instrumental in gaining FDA approval for this technology in May of 2003.

Mr. Coleman received his medical degree in 1986 from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. and completed advanced specialised training in surgery of the eye at St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center in New York City, the primary teaching institution for New York Medical College. Mr. Coleman is among a handful of eye Surgeons in the United States selected to teach the FDA certification course to other Doctors on the use of the VISX laser system. His most recent course was taught at the Scottsdale Eye Surgery Center in Scottsdale, Arizona.

While serving four years as a Flight Surgeon in Europe, he was the recipient of a total of seven prestigious honours, including the Bronze Star and Air Medal. He also worked directly with the Ophthalmologic Consultant to the Surgeon General on an Army-wide investigation into the use of contact lenses by nearsighted pilots flying attack (Apache) helicopters. His international volunteer efforts delivering medical care have taken him to such diverse destinations as Thailand and Cambodia. During his most recent expedition he spent six weeks performing cataract and refractive eye surgery in India, at the world's largest non-profit eye institution, the Aravind Eye Hospital.

I previously used the Nidek system but found that the results were less than optimal in many patients. Since using the STAR S4 IR™ Excimer Laser System at Optical Express, I say with confidence that this technology is the best and out-performs any other system, including the Nidek. The results are phenomenal.
