FRCOphth FRCS
An experienced Ophthalmic Surgeon, Mr. Mantry has performed more than 6,500 procedures including LASIK and LASEK. He is registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and is a fully trained Ophthalmologist who has undergone additional specialist training in refractive surgery.
He is an Ophthalmic Surgeon for Optical Express and has gained vast experience with special interests in anterior segment and cataract surgery, and is an active member of various affiliated bodies and societies such as the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Twice every year, Mr. Mantry attends International Medical Advisory Board (IMAB) Conferences and is annually assessed by this board. The panel consists of several of the world's most eminent Refractive Surgeons including Mr. Steve Schallhorn, former Head of Ophthalmology for the US Navy, and Professor Jan Venter, a world leading Ophthalmic Surgeon.
Mr. Mantry began his medical career in 1992 as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology in Glasgow's Gartnavel General Hospital before accepting the position of Senior House Officer in East Glamorgan Hospital in Wales in 1999. He completed the Higher Specialist Training Programme (HST) in the West Midlands in 2004 where he developed special interests in anterior segment and proceeded to travel nationally and internationally, training and working in recognised centres of excellence. He progressed to the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre where he has developed his vast ophthalmologic surgical experience, becoming Specialist Registrar.
Mr. Mantry has made presentations in many different countries about laser surgery and regularly attends conferences relating to the field of refractive surgery, allowing him to stay abreast of all developments in the advancing field of ophthalmology. He is actively involved in undertaking research projects relating to laser refractive surgery and is a regular lecturer on the teaching circuit and the author of many published articles.
