Mr. John A. Vukich

Mr. Vukich has gained international attention for his work in developing the Implantable Contact Lens and currently serves as US Medical Monitor of the core FDA studies for this device. He has been the principal investigator in six clinical trials evaluating various intraocular lenses as well as noninvasive diagnostic imaging devices. Mr. Vukich has presented over 100 original research papers and invited lectures on refractive surgery on six continents. He has received Best Paper of Session awards four times at scientific meetings including the Australian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

He is the recipient of the AAO honor award and has been recognized by his peers as one of Madison’s Top Doctors yearly since 2000. He has served on the executive committee of the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Refractive Surgery section and on the education committee of the AAO. He has twice been the program chairman of the largest refractive surgery meeting in the world, the ISRS/AAO Refractive Surgery Subspecialty Day. Mr. Vukich has authored multiple peer reviewed articles, continuing medical education supplements and four book chapters. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Refractive Surgery, section editor of the Ophthalmic Hyperguide, and serves on the editorial board of both Review of Refractive Surgery and Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today. Mr. Vukich is frequently sought out by the media for expert analysis. He has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today, and Family Circle Magazine. He has appeared in interviews on ABC’s World News Tonight with Peter Jennings and Good Morning America.

Mr. Vukich is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Medical School. He graduated with honors from Emory University and completed his ophthalmology training at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. Mr. Vukich is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of numerous professional societies at the national, state and local level.
