Mr Qazi is a highly accomplished ophthalmic surgeon with an impressive career spanning more than 30 years. Specialising in LASIK and LASEK laser vision correction surgery, he has carried out over 50,000 laser eye procedures. His keen interest in the treatment of cataracts has also allowed him to gain extensive experience in refractive lens exchange and cataract surgery.
After completing his basic ophthalmic training in Ireland, Mr Qazi went on to receive further postgraduate qualifications from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London and the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow. He then joined the University of Toronto as a clinical ophthalmic fellow in 2000, specialising in ocular oncology, before embarking on another full-time clinical fellowship in ocular immunology at The Johns Hopkins Medical University in 2002.
Since receiving his CCST from the General Medical Council in 2004, Mr Qazi has gained a wealth of experience working for the NHS, holding various Consultant Ophthalmologist positions in hospitals across the UK. He has also received additional specialist training, gaining his Certificate in Laser Refractive Surgery (CertLRS) from The Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 2009.
Mr Qazi has co-authored a number of articles in some of the most esteemed peer review journals, including the American Journal of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the British Society for Refractive Surgery, and attends regular international meetings and conferences to keep abreast of the latest developments in Ophthalmology.
